Make a Lantern, Join the Parade
Everyone who makes a lantern is invited to take part in the Hooley Parade, which will illuminate Dundee city centre in celebration of St Andrew’s Day. This year’s theme, water, and your lantern will become part of a shared display of light, creativity, and community spirit flowing through the heart of Dundee.
The Dundee Hooley takes place from 3pm – 7.30pm on Sunday 30 November.
Further details about how to take part in the parade will be shared during the workshops.

About the Pop-Up Lab
The Urban ReLeaf Pop-Up Lab is a creative, participatory space where data meets imagination. It forms part of our ongoing Greenspace Perceptions campaign, which explores how people across Dundee experience their local green and blue spaces.
The lantern-making workshops are a way to bring this data to life, transforming community insights into art that celebrates the places that matter most to local people.

Meet the Artists
We’re delighted to collaborate with two artists from What Moves You CIC, Dawn Hartley and Niamh O’Loughlin, who will lead the workshops and support participants in designing lanterns inspired by Dundee’s stories and landscapes.
Dawn Hartley is a choreographer and engagement specialist with over 30 years of experience connecting people through movement and creativity.
Niamh O’Loughlin is a Dundee-based dance artist whose work focuses on storytelling, community, and wellbeing through movement.
Their approach encourages collaboration, accessibility, and the use of art to strengthen community connections.
